Can you use generative AI for your business optimization development?

In an ideal world, generative AI could make it all. You would just give it a development goal like “optimize and automate the business process of my technical maintenance”. AI would ask you for the missing details, and finally send you a detailed business plan including optimization model with its objective function, constraints etc.

However, while AI shows promise in many areas, replicating the functionality within advanced planning and scheduling systems that are built on mathematical optimization solvers is another story. Despite the rapid pace of development, it is not yet possible to define mathematical optimization as part of complex business needs. This is because the solution space, typically containing billions of options, combined with the necessary constraints, is too challenging an equation for artificial intelligence. There is another way to exploit generative AI. You can ask for development ideas. I tried ChatGPT with the question of “How can a mechanical engineering company develop technical maintenance through mathematical optimization?” The answer was shockingly good. Try it yourself.

If you want to apply the ideas you got from AI, I can introduce you to DecisionBrain, a world-class expert in optimization. They will help realize your development ideas as they have already done in Finland and other countries worldwide.
